On March 4, 2013, Mayor Bob Huber appointed A.J. Hernandez to serve on the Executive Board of Neighborhood Council District 1. This will be the second Neighborhood Council appointment for Hernandez. Previously, he served on District 4 in 2010. District 1 includes the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, Target, Costco, and other large companies which bring traffic and drive commerce in Simi Valley. This is an important appointment for Hernandez because his main concern is business in Simi Valley.
(The Council appointed Hernandez last year to serve as the youngest board member on the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center Foundation where he has been tasked with modernizing the digital presence of the Foundation and theatre.)
