There has been speculation for some time now regarding the fate of the Mac Pro line-up. Having not been updated in years, and lack of current standards (e.g. Thunderbolt, USB 3.0, etc.), a slow demise has been considered imminent. Today, 9to5Mac notes a new product regulation standard in Europe that will forcibly halt the sales of the Mac Pro on March 1, 2013. While Apple has clearly been promoting the “Post-PC Era,” this has been a confirmed leap in that direction. Apple will still be able to sell the remaining inventory in their stores, but all new shipments will be discontinued. Although sales in other areas around the world will still be permitted, it is evident that the end has come for the aluminum giant.
